10th Annual Northcott Tournament

The Northcott /Crusaders primary schools challenge cup is now in its 10th year . When the competition was first played, eight primary schools from the North Belfast / Newtownabbey areas took part.

During the next number of years the competition has grown and this year's competition saw 16 schools take part in what turned out to be another successful day.

The competition was played in a fun filled atmosphere with Seaview PS coming out winners for the 3rd time in a row, their manager Miss Diane Lee said she delighted for the boys and the school, but would not be applying for the England post.

Such was the success of the boys competition a decision was taken 3 years ago to organise a girls cup with 8 schools taking part . This year the competition has also grown with 16 schools also taking part and everyone agreed the day was a great success

The winners of the girls cup where Kings Park in what turned out to be a great final against St Bernard's and credit must go to their teachers for the way the girls played all throughout the competition.

A big thank you goes to the sponsors Northcott Shopping Centre, Newtownabbey Borough Council, McDonald's Newtownabbey, Michael Boyd IFA Community Officer  and all the volunteers from Crusaders and staff at the Valley Leisure Centre.

NIE/Youth Sport primary schools cup

The provisional date for the NIE/Youth Sport primary schools cup is the 3rd May at Seaview. A big thankyou goes to NIE for their continued sponsorship for this cross community competition this year we intend to add 4 more schools bringing the total to 12.
