Crusaders v Limavady 8/09/07

CRUSADERS 1 LIMAVADY UTD 0

Sun drenched conditions welcomed Limavady to Seaview but on this occasion there was no plethora of goals as was in Limavady a couple of weeks ago.

But with only a minute on the clock Shannon got down to save well from lively Limavady striker Curran, Martin Reilly nearly got the Crues in front after four minutes but saw his effort sail just wide. Limavady were certainly looking very lively and Shannon again came to the rescue when he made another good save from Curran once again. In the 28 minute Reilly brought the best out of Limavady keeper Millar when his low effort was stopped on the line. With half time beckoning the Crues stepped up a gear and it was Rainey who fairly rattled the upright with a great shot with the keeper well beaten, Morrow a minute later shot from 25 yards but saw his shot whistle over the top.

The second half saw both sides prompting and probing with neither troubling the keepers and with the introduction of McAllister to the right wing Crusaders were beginning to look a lot more purposeful. And with five minutes remaining McAllister beat a couple of defenders and shot for goal which was blocked, but the ball rebounded to Rainey who took his time and placed a fine left foot shot to the top corner giving Millar no chance in the Limavady goal.

Not a great game but a game which was always interesting and it now sees the Crues progress to the quarter final stage against either Portadown or Newry City their group will not be decided until next round of fixtures next weekend.
