Lisburn Distillery v Crusaders Sat 16th Feb 2008 Another frustrating day for Crues fans when we left yet another away ground having felt our efforts deserved more than we got. Yet again Crusaders made a bad start against Distillery. Only 6 minutes gone and a goal down. A Distillery corner was knocked in deep and headed back across the box. They reacted quickest to head the ball in. It took 15 minutes for the Crues to get a decent when Seamus Brown headed a Chris Morrow cross wide. The rest of the first half lacked any excitement or good chances apart from a Davy Rainey shot that went over. Surely things must improve in the second half Half time Lisburn Distillery 1 - 0 Crusaders Well improve they and a good sweeping move down the left was finished by a great cross to Barry Spence who shot over. A couple of minutes later Brown put Rainey through who, having wrong footed a defender, shot but straight at the keeper. Crusaders were now controlling possession and Stephen McBride put Eamon Doherty through to the edge of the six yard box but the keeper smothered his attempt. McBride had a go himself and his long range shot was deflected up in the air and into the arms of the Whites keeper. Distillery, making a rare forage forward, forced Aaron Kerr to turn the ball round his left hand post low down. Most of the play was now taking place in the Distillery half and Rainey floated in a cross which nearly caught out the Whites keeper who had to tip the ball over for a corner. McBride again made the keeper save well high to his left from a fine shot. Crusaders nearly got a point, which was the very least they would have deserved, when Darren Lockhart crossed from the left to find Rainey wide right but his shot only found the side netting.
