Portadown v Crusaders 5th Jan 2008 Only for a slack 3 minutes Crusaders matched Portadown for most of the other 87. The Crues first chance came after only 5 minutes when Eamon Doherty had a great shot from outside the box tipped over by the Portadown keeper (not spotted by any official). The first quarter was very even. Eamon McAllister was having another good game down the right wing and one of his crosses was met by Colin Coates but his header was easily dealt with. Portadown up to this point were restricted to long range efforts not calling Aaron Kerr in the Crues net into action. It was on the half hour when a Portadown cross from the left was met on the volley and well pushed round the post.. McAllister crossed another good ball in Chris Morrow couldn't keep his header down. Then came the 3 minutes that changed the game. In the 41st minute a cross from the left found a Portadown player unmarked on the right hand side of the box and he drilled the ball past Kerr. 2 minutes later McCutcheon of Portadown received the ball on the left corner of the Crues penalty box and he chipped it into the top right corner of the net. Half time Portadown 2 - 0 Crusaders The second half was an even contest. Both sides shared plenty of possession without making the 'keepers make any saves of note. After 72 minutes Seamus Brown was substituted after making a decent debut for Crusaders. Portadown could have added to their score only for Aaron Kerr who saved well from close range. So it was another frustrating day for the Crues who got nothing from a game they were competitive in.
