Barn United 4 Crusaders Reserves 6


Crusaders Reserves came out on top in a ten goal thriller away to Barn Utd to progress into the next round of the Intermediate Cup.
From the kick off Barn Utd had a defender sent off after 30 seconds for a horrid challenge on Boylan who was lucky to continue on after receiving treatment for a ankle injury. From the resulting free kick the ball broke to Collins and he cut in from the left and his shot went into the bottom corner of the net with Harris letting the ball run through his legs to dummy the keeper. Crusaders Reserves went two up after 15 minutes when a Cowan corner was headed home by Barrett. With 30 minutes on the clock Crusaders Reserves went further ahead when Barrett broke free but was denied by a defender and ball broke to Cowan who drilled home from 15 yards. Barn Utd pulled a goal back when Sharples scored from close range. Immediately though Crusaders Reserves scored again when Faulkner beat two defenders and the keeper and his cut back was touched home by an opposing defender. Barn Utd refused to lie down and pulled a goal back on half time with a good finish from the edge of the box.

Barn Utd scored after two minutes off the restart from a free kick from 20 yards giving Sergeant no chance in goal. Crusaders Reserves took control after this set back and scored a fifth when Faulkner did well again on the right and his passed was touched home by Boylan from 6 yards. Harris scored the goal of the game when he initially won possesion in his own half and released Boylan on the right. Boylan outsprinted the defence to cross for the in coming Harris to score at the back post. Barn scored their fourth in the last minute from a penalty.
