Crumlin United 3 Crusaders Reserves 5

Crusaders Reserves marched into the next round of the Intermediate Cup with a good performance away to Crumlin Utd. Martin was put through by Barrett after 5 minutes but unfortunately his touch let him down and the ball went out for a corner. Crusaders Reserves took the lead after 10 minutes when Cowan fed Barrett and he out paced the home defence to score from 12 yards. McMaster was causing problems with his pace and played Martin through but somehow the ref wrongly blew for offside. Unfortunately Crumlin Utd went striaght down the pitch and equalised from a long clearance. Crusaders Reserves responded quickly and more good work from Cowan found McMaster who scored into the roof of the net from 25 yards. Gibson was carried of just before half time after another late challenge. Sergeant kept Crusaders Reserves in the lead going into the break with two point blank saves.

Crumlin Utd equalised after the restart after a good flowing move down the right. Martin restored the lead for Crusaders Reserves with a fine volley from 25 yards after Collins and McMaster combined on the right. Crumlim Utd bounced back and equalised for third time with a tap in at the near right hand post. The young Crues did not give up and this same to spur them on and young sub Rosato beat two defenders and was upended in the box. Collins stepped up to score with the keeper getting a hand to the ball. Sergeant made a brave save at a forwards feet resulting in both players receiving treatment. McMaster beat two defenders and crossed to Barrett who laid the ball back to Harris and his effort from the edge of the box hit the bar and the danger was cleared. McMaster did well on the right again and fed Barrett who was tripped in the box. Collins cooly stepped up and scored into the roof of the net to give the Crues victory. Overall a very good win again a typical strong amateur league with some strong tackling going unpunished by the ref.
