Crusaders lost out in a seven goal thriller after leading by two goals. Crusaders dominated the first half and took the after 20 mins when Marks fed Faulkner on the left and his shot come cross went into the net from 20 yards. Hogg dived bravely at an opponents feet to thwart any danger when portadown burst clear.A Faulkner shot was deflected of Owens but the opposing keeper reacted well saving low to his right hand post. On 38 mins Cowan made it two nil swerving a free kick from 25 yards around the wall into the bottom corner of the net. Portadown pulled a goal back when crusaders failed to clear from a free kick and leckey shot under Hogg. Portadown equalised on half time when poor marking at a corner left Baker with a simple tap in. Hogg made another double save to keep the scores level.
 
Portadown took the lead when a long clearance from the keeper was not dealt with and the portadown no 7 raced clear to score. Portadown scored a fourth from the spot when Marks was harshly judged for fouling an opponent. Crusaders pulled a goal back when Faulkner fed owens and he touched home under the advancing keeper. Murray had a header cleared of the line from a Marks corner and right at the death Quinn also had a shot cleared of the line.
