Crusaders where involved in a dramatic 2-2 draw today at The Oval against Glentoran in the latest Danske Bank Premiership game.
The game was ebbed and flowed between the sides as they traded goals in the first half but it was the Latvian referee who took centre stage when he sent Kyle Owens off for a laughable second bookable offence. Glentoran equalised from the free kick but it was to get worse for the game a few minutes later when a full scale melee broke out after a bad tackle on Paul Heatley. When the dust had settled Rory Patterson for Crusaders and John McGuigan for Glentoran found themselves sent off while others managed to stay on the pitch especially the Glentoran player who had made the initial challenge.
The second half was a quieter affair and Paul Heatley had several chances to win it but he found Elliott Morris in good form and Willie Garrett prepared to throw his body in the way.
