Crusaders v Glentoran Irish Cup Preview

The Tennents Irish Cup quest begins on Saturday when Glentoran come to Seaview. Crusaders are looking to lift the trophy for the first time in 10 years while Glentoran last won it in 2015. Both sides met just last week in the Premiership and it took a 91st minute goal from the penalty spot to seperate the sides in Crusaders favour.

Crusaders go into the game on superb form from the Premiership and they will have several new squad members to choose from as Reece McGinley, Rory Hale and Gerard Doherty are now officially Crusaders players. We could see Stephen Baxter rest several players for the game after an unbeaten holiday period and it means the new signings mentioned above could get a place. Michael Carvill, Rory Patterson, Matthew Snoddy may also start after being on the bench the last few weeks while Ross Clarke could also be in line to start again while other midfielders are rested. Stephen Baxter will weigh up the pros and cons of making significant changes but the side sent out will still be up for the job.

Glentoran have a new management team in place with Ronnie McFall resigning during the week and Gary Smyth and Paul Leeman take control. Several players miss through suspension but Darren Murray should make his debut for the club. It has been a tough few months for the East Belfast and they will target the Irish Cup as a means of lifting silverware and Crusaders will need to be wary of this. Glentoran also know Crusaders put them out of the League Cup in November and won two of the three meetings in the Premiership drawing the other but a new start may make the difference.

So all set for a cup game and we want you there in the numbers you have been coming to games recently. Season Tickets are not valid and admission is £11 & £7. Come down to Seaview and join us as we bid to make the Final in May and be part of the journey. Keep The Faith.
