It was defeat today at Stangmore Park today for Crusaders after they went down 1-0 to Dungannon Swifts in the Danske Bank Premiership.
Despite dominating the first half Crusaders could not make the break through as wave after wave of attack was dealt with by the Dungannon Swifts defence. Crusaders kept pressure on from the start and went close when David Cushley crashed his shot off the bar after 16 minutes. It was becoming more and more frustrating but Crusaders plugged away with Reece McGinley doing well on the wing and Ross Clarke and Declan Caddell going close with headed efforts. Dungannon Swifts finally got a shot on target on 43 minutes but the half played out to 0-0 at half time.
Crusaders had the ball in the net early in the second half but it was ruled offside and from then Dungannon Swifts gained confidence and got a foot hold in the game. They forced a good save from Sean O'Neill and from the resulting corner went ahead when Wilson rose highest and firmly headed home. Dungannon Swifts cleared off their own line and Colin Coates headed over from a Crusaders corner but Dungannon Swifts fought back and went close on a few occasions. Crusaders went on the front foot again for the final ten minutes but couldn't break down a solid home defence and the game was lost 1-0.
