Crusaders Player Of The Year Night

It was in a packed out Hospiltality Lounge in the McDonald on Saturday night that Crusaders Supporters gathered to celebrate with the players and management for the season just finished and also to hand out Supporters Clubs awards.

With both the Co. Antrim Shield and the Tennents Irish Cup sitting at the top of the room everyone enjoyed a delicious two course dinner before the awards started.

The main winner on the night was David Cushley as he collected Player of the Year awards from the Grove Crusaders Supporters Club, Ian McDonald Crusaders Supporters Club, 1st Glengormley Crusaders Supporters Club and the Whitehouse Working Mens Club Crusaders Supporters Club, Player of the Year as sponsored by EH Services and finally the Crusaders Board Player of the Year. "Cush" also picked up Goal Of The Season for his goal against Coleraine that swerved away and into the net from nearly 30 yards.

Jordan Forsythe picked up two awards when he was voted Players Player of the Year sponsored by Crawley International Properties and a new award of Managers Player of the Year (which will be known as Alexs Cup and dedicated by the Galbraith Family in memory of their son who passed away recently)

Under 20's Player of the Year went to Kyle Calderwood and was awarded by the North Belfast Crusaders Supporters Club.

Declan Caddell and Colin Coates shared the Club Man of the Year awarded by Ian McDonald Crusaders Supporters Club while Rory Hale collected Young Player of the Year from Grove Crusaders Supporters Club. Michael Ruddy received Best Newcomer and Most Promising Newcomer from the 1st Glengormley Crusaders Supporters Club and Ian McDonald Crusaders Supporters Club respectively. Declan Caddell also won Runner Up Player of the Year sponsored by EH Services.

Paul Heatley received an award for Top Goalscorer from 1st Glengormley Crusaders Supporters Club while Jordan Owens and Paul Heatley received awards as Runners up to David Cushley from Grove Crusaders Supporters Club.

Grove Crusaders Supporters Club presented a cheque to Crusaders Chairman Ronnie Millar from proceeds of their "Sweet Shop" in the ground which is run by their member Ivan Donnelly. Ivan Donnelly was then presented with a Lifetime Membership to Crusaders Football Club  for his superb work over the years raising money from the Shop. A great gesture for just one of the many unsung heroes around Seaview.

Finally Declan Caddell received donations from both Whitehouse Working Mens Crusaders Supporters Club and 1st Glengormley Supporters Club for his Testimonial Year.

The awards finished with a passionate speech from Manager Stephen Baxter before the supporters and players enjoyed the rest of the evening with a disco.

Thank You to everyone who attended and the organisers for getting the night off without a hitch and not forgetting the Chefs and Staff for the food.

That's it and after a few weeks rest the Players come back and start all over again and we look forward to seeing you all back at the end of June for Pre Season Games and Europa League Qualifying action in July.
