Our European campaign starts on Thursday night when we play B36 Torshavn from the Faroe Islands in the 1st Qualifying Round 1st Leg of the Europa League. We have never played a team from the Faroes so we go into unchartered territory with this one.
Crusaders have prepared in every way possible for this tie and Stephen Baxter and the backroom staff will have left nothing to chance. Everyone is available bar Matthew Snoddy, Rodney Brown and Gerard Doherty and pre season has witnessed many good performances so picking the team could be difficult. David Cushley has looked exceptionally sharp and Sean O'Neill has made several good stops over the games played so far but there have been others who have hit the ground running and likely caught the management teams eye and they will be looking that starting slot as well. New signings Chris Hegarty and Jarlath O'Rourke have slipped nicely into their new surroundings and are also in line to start. Stephen Baxter will look for a performance similar to the Motherwell and Maiden City games with the intensity played in those games but he will be equally pleased as long as we do not concede.
B36 Torshavn are no strangers to Belfast having played Linfield twice before (2013 & 2015) and they have been here since Monday preparing for this game. They consider themselves underdogs but that will not affect their game plan as they try and keep it tight to take back to Torshavn next week. Manager Jakup a Borg saw his side train on Wednesday night in rainy conditions and although used to the surface he will hope the weather is kinder come kick off. B36 have played 46 times in European competition and have won four times including last years 1st Qualifying Round in the Europa League so they will be very much respected by Crusaders.
So we go again in Europe and we want you there with us,. The game kicks off at 6pm (Admission £12 Adult & £8 and you can enter the ground to each stand as follows...
